Privacy notice
In short
I only collect what I need to groom your dog and get back to you about appointments. I don’t sell your details to anyone, I don’t send marketing you haven’t asked for, and this website doesn’t use cookies. If you want to know what I hold about you, or want it deleted, just ask.

What I collect, and why
When you ask for an appointment or send an enquiry
Your name, email address and phone number, and what you’ve told me about your dog — their name, breed, size, age, the service you’re after, when you’d like to come, and anything you think I should know about them.
I use this to reply to you, agree a time, and know what I’m dealing with before your dog arrives.
When you become a customer
I keep a record of your appointments and notes about your dog — their coat, how they were on the day, what worked and what didn’t.
I use this so I can look after your dog properly next time, and so I’m not asking you the same questions at every visit.
When you call, message or email
Whatever is in that conversation, including WhatsApp messages and messages sent through Facebook or Instagram.
When you visit this website
Nothing that identifies you. I use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which tells me roughly how many people visit and which pages they read. It sets no cookies, collects no personal data, and cannot identify you or follow you around the internet.
This website sets no cookies at all. That is why there is no cookie banner.
My lawful basis for using it
Under UK data protection law I have to tell you why I’m allowed to hold your information.
| What | Why I’m allowed to |
|---|---|
| Replying to your enquiry and arranging an appointment | Taking steps at your request before entering into a contract |
| Grooming your dog and taking payment | Performing our contract |
| Keeping notes about your dog between visits | My legitimate interest in providing a safe, consistent service — and yours in your dog being handled properly |
| Keeping financial records | Legal obligation — tax and accounting |
I do not send marketing emails or texts. If that ever changes, I will ask you first, and you’ll be able to say no without it affecting your appointments.
Who else sees it
I don’t sell your information and I don’t share it for anyone else’s marketing. A small number of companies handle it on my behalf so that the business can work:
| Who | What they do |
|---|---|
| Google (Google Workspace) | My email and my appointment calendar |
| Resend | Delivers the emails this website sends |
| Cloudflare | Hosts this website and processes the forms |
| Meta (WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram) | If you choose to message me there |
Each of them acts on my instructions and cannot use your information for their own purposes.
When you confirm an appointment, I may add you as a guest to the calendar entry so you get a reminder. That sends your email address to Google. If you’d rather I didn’t, say so and I’ll leave it off.
I will also share information if the law requires it — for example if a court orders it, or where there is a genuine concern about an animal’s welfare.
Information leaving the UK
Google, Cloudflare, Resend and Meta are American companies, so your information may be stored or handled outside the UK.
Each of them is required by contract to protect it to UK standards, using the safeguards UK data protection law recognises for international transfers.
How long I keep it
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Enquiries that don’t lead to an appointment | 12 months |
| Customer and dog records | 6 years after your last appointment |
| Financial records | 6 years, as tax law requires |
| Emails and messages | Reviewed yearly, deleted when no longer needed |
Six years on customer records is to cover tax requirements and the period in which an insurance claim could be brought. If you’d like your records deleted sooner, ask — and unless I’m legally required to keep something, I will.
Your rights
You can ask me to:
- Show you what I hold about you
- Correct anything that’s wrong
- Delete it
- Stop or limit what I’m doing with it
- Send it to you or someone else in a portable format
- Object to me using it where I’ve relied on legitimate interests
Just ask — email, phone or in person. I don’t charge for this, and I’ll respond within one month.
I don’t make any decisions about you automatically. Everything here is handled by me, personally.
If you’re unhappy
Please tell me first, so I can put it right: karen@lollybees.com or 07494 966527.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s data protection regulator.
